Keeping it simple
If you’re running a local newsletter, some days it feels like there is so much to do to get the next issue out.
My best tip is to keep things simple.
Have a template - Mine is a calendar of events first, 3-4 articles in the middle, and a sports calendar at the end.
Quick messages - I send a quick message through to community groups once a week or once a month (depending how active they are) asking if they’d like anything published.
Schedule social media posts - I schedule my social media posts when I schedule my newsletter, so it’s all organised and done at once.
Use as much published information as possible - Most of the information I publish has already been written down somewhere: updates from Council, upcoming events, projects happening around town. If the information is already published/promoted somewhere I use as much of that as I can. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
Make the process easy for yourself.
